Poor Road Condition Near Astabal Bridge Sparks Public Criticism Over “Development” Claims

Agartala: The stretch of road connecting Bodhjung Boys School to Lake Chowmuhani Bazar — passing beside the old Transport Department office under Astabal Bridge — remains in a severely dilapidated condition, drawing sharp criticism from local residents and commuters.

Locals allege that the road has been left unattended for a considerable period, despite falling within a busy and heavily used stretch of the city. Pedestrians and vehicle users say the deteriorating condition poses a daily hazard, particularly during the ongoing monsoon season.

Several residents have questioned the state government and the Agartala Municipal Corporation’s claims of “development” in the capital, pointing to the neglected road as an example of the gap between official assurances and ground realities.

Commuters passing through the area have urged the authorities concerned, including the AMC under Mayor Dipak Majumder, to take swift action to repair the road and prevent further inconvenience to the public.

There has been no official response yet from the Municipal Corporation or the state Public Works Department regarding the condition of the road or a timeline for repair work.
