Agartala: In a novel initiative, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder is set to take on a new role — riding a scooter through the city’s lanes and by-lanes to personally address the grievances of residents.
The move is aimed at bringing civic administration closer to the people, allowing the Mayor to directly assess ground-level problems such as damaged roads, drainage issues, and other municipal concerns without the formality of official visits.
According to sources, the initiative is expected to help the AMC identify and resolve civic issues more swiftly, as the Mayor’s on-the-spot visits would allow for quicker redressal of complaints raised by residents in various wards of the city.
The unconventional approach has drawn attention from residents, many of whom have welcomed the Mayor’s decision to engage directly with the public in this manner.
Officials said further details regarding the schedule and specific areas to be covered under this initiative are expected to be announced soon.
The move comes amid the AMC’s continued efforts to improve civic amenities and enhance public engagement across Agartala under its ongoing urban development plans.
