AGARTALA: The Usha Bazar Local Committee of the Tripura Scheduled Caste Coordination Committee on Monday distributed food supplies to a family in need at Debnath Para, Lankamura.
The beneficiaries were Tulsi Sarkar, wife of late Haradhan Sarkar, and her son Prasenjit Sarkar, both of whom reportedly live with mental health challenges. With no earning member in the household, the family has largely depended on support from neighbours to sustain themselves, organisers said.
The initiative was attended by Comrade Angad Biswas, a state committee member of the Tripura Scheduled Caste Coordination Committee, along with Sadar sub-divisional committee members Comrade Arun Malakar, Swapan Sarkar, Shimul Sarkar and Mithu Das, besides other local leaders of the organisation.
Organisers said the gesture was aimed at extending solidarity to families facing hardship due to lack of livelihood support, and called on the wider community to come forward and help such vulnerable households.
