AGARTALA: A 26-year-old man was found dead in his rented room at Vidyasagar Professor Para here on Monday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Bishnu Banik, a resident of Kalyanpur, Khoyai, who reportedly worked at a company in Kashipur. He was staying as a tenant at the residence of Joydeep Sen Chowdhury when he was found hanging inside his room, according to sources.
The incident triggered panic in the locality after neighbours alerted authorities. A forensic team along with police from the College Tilla outpost reached the spot and began investigations. The body was later sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Family members who arrived at the scene broke down upon seeing the body. Police have not yet confirmed the circumstances leading to the death and said a probe is underway.
No suicide note has been reported so far, sources said. Further details are awaited as investigations continue.
