Joint Forces Seize 570 kg of Ganja in Surendranagar, One Arrested

SIDHAI: In a major success for the state’s anti-narcotics drive, a joint team of security forces seized approximately 570 kg of dried ganja during a special operation in the Surendranagar area under Sidhai Police Station late Wednesday night.

The operation was led by the Agartala Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) team, with participation from the Border Security Force (BSF), Tripura State Rifles (TSR), and Sidhai Police Station personnel, officials said.

Acting on confidential information, the joint forces conducted a sudden search at a house in Surendranagar, where the dried ganja was found stored in drums. Following the operation, 12 drums containing the contraband were brought to Sidhai Police Station.

Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ashish Dasgupta confirmed that the total quantity of seized dried ganja stands at approximately 570 kg.

One person has been arrested from the spot in connection with the case on charges of alleged involvement in the drug trafficking network. Police have not yet disclosed the identity of the arrested individual, citing investigative reasons.

Officials said the investigation is progressing to trace the wider network behind the trafficking racket, with further arrests not ruled out.

The seizure marks the latest in a series of anti-narcotics operations conducted by joint forces across the state in recent months.
