CHAWMANU (DHALAI): Seventeen families have been forced to leave their homes following flooding caused by continuous heavy rainfall in Dhanya Ram Karbari Para, under Chawmanu Block in Dhalai district.
The displaced families are currently taking shelter in the rest room of the Dhanya Ram Karbari Para School ground. Many residents reportedly could not retrieve their household belongings due to rising floodwaters.
Local residents said that if the rain continues unabated, several more families in the area may also be forced to abandon their homes.
The affected residents alleged that no administrative or elected representative has visited them since they were displaced, expressing frustration over the apparent lack of response from authorities.
Efforts to reach block or district administration officials for comment were not immediately successful.
