KAMALPUR: Residents of Kanailal Halampara under the Surma assembly constituency in Kamalpur subdivision staged a road blockade, demanding uninterrupted supply of drinking water and electricity in the area.
According to locals, the protest was organized after repeated complaints over inadequate access to basic civic amenities went unaddressed by the concerned authorities. Protesters reportedly blocked the road for a period, causing disruption to traffic movement in the area, before the agitation was called off.
Residents alleged that despite several representations to local officials, no concrete action has been taken to resolve the long-standing issues of water scarcity and erratic power supply in the locality.
It remains unclear whether any official from the administration or the electricity and water departments visited the site or responded to the protesters’ demands at the time of the blockade.
