JOLAIBARI: A 37-year-old man died in a suspected road accident in the early hours of Monday night, after his scooter reportedly skidded on a rain-soaked, muddy road while he was returning home from a wedding function.
The deceased, identified as Ratimohan Tripura of Mayajoy Para, was brought to Jolaibari Social Health Centre around 12:45 AM but was declared dead on arrival, according to the attending doctor. Family members said Tripura was riding his scooter (registration TR 08 B 6172) from a wedding ceremony in Avangchhara when the accident is believed to have occurred due to poor road conditions caused by rain.
Following the incident, questions have been raised by locals over the state of roads in the assembly constituency represented by Minister Suklacharan Noatia, with residents alleging repeated loss of life due to inadequate infrastructure.
The body was handed over to family members on Tuesday after post-mortem examination. Members of the 38-Jolaibari Mandal BJP unit paid their last respects to the deceased. The area remains under a shadow of grief following his death.
