Angry Residents Block National Highway Over Smart Meter Recharge Failure

TELIAMURA: Tension gripped Teliamura on Tuesday after angry residents blocked the national highway, protesting their inability to recharge electricity smart meters despite having cash in hand for several days.

According to affected residents, many had been attempting to recharge their meters for three to four days but were unable to do so, allegedly due to persistent technical issues with the system. The prolonged disruption reportedly left several households without power, triggering widespread frustration in the area.

Unable to get their grievances addressed through regular channels, agitated locals took to the national highway, blocking traffic to press for an immediate resolution. The protest caused disruption to vehicular movement along the route before the situation was brought under control.
