Dhanpur: Workers staged a road blockade in the Shantinagar area of Dhanpur on Saturday, alleging that they were being denied entry into the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) premises amid an ongoing dispute between two party mandals over control of the establishment.
According to workers affiliated with the Dhanpur Mandal, leaders of the Sonamura Mandal have been obstructing their entry into NEEPCO, allegedly in a bid to assert control over employment and work allocation at the site. The blockade caused disruption to vehicular movement on the road for several hours, inconveniencing commuters in the area.
Protesting workers alleged that the ongoing tussle over “dokhol” (dominance/control) between the two mandals has directly affected their livelihood, as they have reportedly been prevented from accessing their workplace. They demanded immediate intervention from senior party leadership and district authorities to resolve the dispute and ensure unhindered access to work.
No official statement has yet been issued by either the Dhanpur or Sonamura Mandal leadership regarding the allegations. NEEPCO authorities were also unavailable for comment at the time of filing this report.
Police reportedly reached the spot to manage the situation and ease traffic movement, though further details on any formal action taken were not immediately available.
