PRESS UNDER PRESSURE: Khowai Journalists Allege Police Misconduct

AGARTALA: The Khowai Press Club submitted a deputation to the Additional Superintendent of Police on Thursday, alleging obstruction in news gathering and discourteous behaviour towards journalists by police personnel.

Members of the press club raised concerns over the alleged incident, stating that journalists were prevented from carrying out their professional duties and were treated in an unbecoming manner while attempting to gather news. The deputation called for appropriate action against those responsible and sought assurance that such incidents would not recur in the future.

The Press Club members emphasised that free and unhindered access for journalists in the course of their duty is essential for ensuring transparency and accountability, and urged the police administration to sensitise personnel regarding appropriate conduct towards media persons.
