Agartala: Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annpurna Devi, on a visit to Agartala, inspected key women and child welfare facilities in the city’s Abhoynagar area on Tuesday.
The Union Minister visited the Girls Unit-2 (Child Care Institution), the ‘Saksham’ Anganwadi Centre located adjacent to the Mahila Ashram, and the ongoing construction site of a hostel for working women.
She was accompanied during the inspection by Tripura’s Minister for Social Welfare and Social Education, Tinku Roy, along with the department’s Secretary, Tapan Das.
During the visit, the Union Minister took stock of the progress of various ongoing projects, reviewed infrastructural development at the sites, and enquired about the implementation of welfare services aimed at women and children in the state.
The inspection comes amid continued central and state government focus on strengthening child care institutions and women’s welfare infrastructure across Tripura, officials said.
