“Insult to Our Profession”: Doctors’ Forum Slams Health Secretary’s Remarks

AGARTALA: The Doctors’ Teachers’ Forum has strongly criticised the Health Secretary over remarks allegedly made against the medical fraternity, with the forum’s president, Dr. Tapan Majumder, stating that the comments have struck at the dignity and honour of doctors across the state.

Dr. Majumder reportedly said that the Health Secretary’s statement was unbecoming of a senior bureaucrat and had caused widespread resentment among the doctor community. He alleged that such remarks undermine the morale of medical professionals who continue to serve under challenging conditions across Tripura’s healthcare system.

The forum is reportedly likely to take up the matter further, with members expressing solidarity with Dr. Majumder’s position and demanding clarification or a retraction from the Health Secretary’s office.

The controversy comes amid ongoing tensions between sections of the medical community and the state health administration over various administrative and policy issues.
