AGARTALA: A befitting programme was organised at Muktadhara here on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sahitya Samrat Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, paying tribute to the literary stalwart’s enduring legacy in Bengali literature.
The event was attended by State Minister Santana Chakma along with several distinguished guests. The programme highlighted Bankim Chandra’s literary works, his contribution to fostering national consciousness, and his pioneering role in shaping modern Bengali literature.
Speaking on the occasion, dignitaries underscored the need to introduce Bankim Chandra’s ideals and literary contributions to the younger generation, noting that his works continue to hold relevance in contemporary times. They called for greater efforts to preserve and popularise his writings among students and youth.
The programme also featured cultural performances and floral tributes, with participants paying homage to the celebrated author, best remembered for works such as “Anandamath” and the composition “Vande Mataram.”
The event concluded with appeals to carry forward Bankim Chandra’s literary and ideological legacy for future generations.
