Stop Diarrhoea Campaign-2026 to be Launched at District Level in Agartala

AGARTALA: The district-level launch of the “Stop Diarrhoea Campaign-2026” will be held shortly at the Ward No. 39 Community Hall, located opposite A.D. Nagar H.S. School here, with Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumder inaugurating the programme.

The campaign has been organised with the objective of preventing diarrhoeal diseases, particularly among children, while promoting health awareness across the community. Officials from the health department, public representatives, and several other distinguished persons are expected to attend the inaugural function.

Through the campaign, authorities aim to sensitise the general public about the importance of maintaining proper hygiene practices, ensuring access to and use of safe drinking water, and recognising the critical role of ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) and zinc supplementation in managing and preventing diarrhoea, especially in young children.

Health officials said such awareness drives are crucial during the monsoon season, when waterborne diseases tend to spread rapidly due to contamination of water sources. They urged residents to follow basic hygiene and sanitation practices to protect children and vulnerable groups from diarrhoeal infections.

Further details on the campaign’s outreach activities are expected to follow in the coming days.
