Years of Neglect: Birchandra-Murasingpara Road Cries for Repair

SHANTIRBAZAR: The road connecting Birchandra to Murasingpara in Shantirbazar subdivision has remained in a dilapidated condition for years, causing severe hardship to residents of several villages who depend on it for daily travel, locals have alleged.

According to residents, the road is riddled with large potholes that turn into waterlogged pits even after light rainfall, making commuting extremely difficult. The situation is particularly distressing for patients and their families, as the road serves as the primary route to the Birchandra Primary Health Centre. With no alternative route available, residents are often forced to navigate the hazardous stretch even during medical emergencies.

Locals said they had repeatedly raised the issue with local leaders and administrative officials, urging them to take up a development project for the road, but no concrete action has been taken so far.

Frustrated by the prolonged inaction, residents approached the media, demanding urgent repair or fresh construction of the road to ease the suffering of commuters from Birchandra, Murasingpara and surrounding villages.

It now remains to be seen what steps the administration takes to address the long-standing grievance and provide relief to the affected residents.
