Brother Kills Brother Over Land Dispute, Both Die in Kailashahar Bloodbath

Kailashahar:A long-simmering property dispute between two brothers turned fatal on Friday night when both men died in a violent clash at Phultali Gram Panchayat in Kailashahar, sending shockwaves through the subdivision.

The victims have been identified as Mayur Chand Sinha, a mason and resident of Ward No. 4, and his younger brother Niloddoj Sinha, a retired army personnel from Ward No. 2 of the same panchayat. The two had reportedly been at odds over ancestral land for several years.

Police said Niloddoj entered his elder brother’s house on Friday night and got into a heated argument. During the altercation, he allegedly attacked Mayur Chand with a sharp knife, injuring the latter’s son who tried to intervene. Moments later, Niloddoj fatally slit Mayur Chand’s throat from behind. Both brothers were found dead at the scene shortly after.

Kailashahar police, led by officer Januya Halam, along with TSR personnel and Unakoti Superintendent of Police Sudhamvika Ar, rushed to the spot. A forensic team examined the site, and both bodies were sent to Unakoti District Hospital.

The injured son remains hospitalised under police watch, as authorities probe how Niloddoj himself died.
