Yatrapur Police Seize Cannabis, Cough Syrup and Country-Made Gun in Late-Night Raid

Yatrapur:Acting on a secret tip-off, Yatrapur Police Station conducted a late-night raid on Wednesday, recovering a large quantity of narcotics and a firearm from a residence in Mahoram Ali Para under Bansh Pukur Gram Panchayat.

According to Officer-in-Charge Parthanath Bhowmik, the police received information around midnight on June 18 that intoxicating substances and a firearm were illegally stored at the house of Akhtar Hossain. A team led by the OC, including Sub-Inspector Bijoy Chakraborty, Rumi Akhtar, a TSR jawan, and several constables, rushed to the location, reaching the spot around 3 am.

A search of the premises led to the recovery of 20 kilograms and 500 grams of dried cannabis stored in a plastic drum, 20 bottles of cough syrup, and a country-made firearm from the residential quarters. Police seized all the recovered items and detained Akhtar Hossain, aged 24, taking him into custody in the early hours of the morning.

The seizure has generated considerable public interest, with residents noting that such a significant haul of narcotics along with a firearm has not been reported in the area for several years. Further investigation into the case is underway.
