Teliamura:In yet another tragic incident to rock Teliamura in recent times, a 30-year-old housewife lost her life after being electrocuted while taking a bath in her own home on Monday morning. The shocking incident took place in the Gamai Bari area under Teliamura Police Station jurisdiction, sending waves of grief and sorrow throughout the locality.
The deceased has been identified as Saraswati Chowdhury, also known as Monti Chowdhury, wife of Liton Chowdhury, a resident of the Gamai Bari area. Early this morning, Saraswati went to bathe in the bathroom of her home when she was suddenly electrocuted and collapsed on the spot. Family members, who noticed she had not emerged from the bathroom, rushed in to find her lying unconscious on the floor.
Without wasting a moment, her family rushed her to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital, where the attending physician, after examination, declared her dead on arrival. The untimely death of the young woman has left her family utterly devastated.
The most heart-wrenching aspect of the tragedy is the plight of the couple’s young daughter, aged just eight years old, who is now left without her mother. The little girl has been inconsolable since the news broke, unable to comprehend the magnitude of her loss. Neighbours and local residents gathered at the family’s home to offer their condolences, as a deep sense of mourning gripped the entire area.
Following the incident, the body was sent for post-mortem examination as per standard procedure, after which the hospital authorities formally handed over the remains to the bereaved family.
Locals are now raising questions about electrical safety in residential areas and are urging authorities to take immediate measures to prevent such avoidable tragedies in the future.
