Jorhat, Assam: Five Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel were killed after an AN-32 transport aircraft crashed during an emergency landing at the Roroiya Air Force Station in Jorhat, Assam, on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Agniveer Vayu Khemaram Kumawat, and Agniveer Vayu Danish Alamo.
According to preliminary reports, the aircraft encountered an emergency while attempting to land at the Roroiya Air Force base. The AN-32 crashed during the emergency landing, resulting in the deaths of all five personnel on board.
Rescue and recovery teams were immediately rushed to the crash site, while the area was secured by Air Force authorities. Senior IAF officials have initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.
The Indian Air Force has expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased personnel. A Court of Inquiry is expected to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic crash.
