Agartala:An hour-long spell of rain left several parts of Agartala waterlogged, disrupting normal life in the city. Low-lying areas bore the brunt of the downpour, with water accumulating on roads and hampering movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
Taking stock of the situation, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Deepak Majumder inspected the affected areas, including Paradise Chowmuhani, Rabindra Bhawan Chowmuhani, and Jaynagar. During his visit, the Mayor reviewed the extent of waterlogging and the drainage situation in these localities.
The recurring waterlogging in these areas during heavy rains has been a persistent concern for residents, who often face difficulties in commuting and access to their homes and shops when water levels rise. The Mayor’s inspection is seen as part of the civic body’s efforts to assess drainage bottlenecks and identify areas requiring urgent attention ahead of the ongoing monsoon season.
Officials said follow-up measures are expected to be taken based on the observations made during the inspection, though specific details on remedial steps or a timeline for drain-clearing works were not immediately announced.
