Unidentified Youth Rescued from Forest in Sonamura, Battling Infection

SONAMURA: An unidentified young man was rescued in a critical condition from a forested area under Maynama Gram Panchayat in Sonamura police station area, after locals spotted him lying unattended amid the undergrowth.

According to reports, residents of the area noticed the youth lying in the jungle and immediately alerted the Sonamura Fire Service department. Fire service personnel rushed to the spot and rescued him, subsequently bringing him to Sonamura Community Health Centre for treatment. He is currently undergoing medical care at the facility.

Doctors attending to the youth said his prolonged lack of food and extended exposure while lying in the forest had led to insect infestation in parts of his body. He is presently being treated under the supervision of Dr. Parthapratim Das, Medical Officer-in-Charge (MOIC) of Sonamura Community Health Centre.

Hospital sources said the youth has so far been unable to communicate his name, place of origin, or any details about how he ended up in the forest, raising concern among medical staff and locals alike about his identity and circumstances.

In light of this, hospital authorities have issued an appeal urging kind-hearted individuals or social organisations to come forward if they have any information that could help trace the young man’s family. Officials said timely identification would not only help reunite him with his family but also enable arrangements for more advanced medical treatment to aid his recovery.

Authorities have not ruled out involving local police to assist in identifying the youth.
