New Delhi: An important core committee meeting of the Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party is currently underway at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi, with the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) village-level elections reportedly high on the agenda.
The meeting is being attended by the party’s national General Secretary B.L. Santhosh, North East in-charge Sambit Patra, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, state BJP president Abhishek Debbarma, and other senior party functionaries.
While official details of the deliberations are yet to be made public, sources indicate that besides the ADC village polls, the meeting is expected to touch upon organisational preparedness, strategy for the party’s rural outreach, and other pressing issues concerning the state unit.
The presence of senior central leadership alongside the state’s top BJP functionaries has fuelled speculation that the party is gearing up for a coordinated push ahead of the council elections, seen as crucial for the party’s continued dominance in Tripura’s tribal belt.
