Row Erupts Over National Flag Mishandling Allegation Against Minister Bikash Debbarma in Assembly

AGARTALA: An allegation has surfaced that Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma held the national flag upside down while standing in the Tripura Legislative Assembly, sparking criticism over alleged disrespect to the national emblem.

According to reports circulating on the matter, the minister was seen holding the tricolour in an inverted position during proceedings in the House, drawing sharp reactions from those who viewed it as an affront to national symbols.

Debbarma, who represents the Krishnapur constituency and serves as Minister of Tribal Welfare, Handloom, Handicrafts and Sericulture, and Statistics in the state government, has not yet issued an official response to the allegation.

The incident, if confirmed, would add to a series of recent controversies in Tripura involving alleged mishandling of the national flag, including an earlier case of the flag being hung upside down at a panchayat office that drew public outrage.
