Road Left Unrepaired for Three Years, E-Auto Drivers Block Highway in Protest!

Kailashahar: E-auto drivers staged a road blockade at Tilabazar on Friday, protesting the dilapidated condition of the Rangauti–Kailashahar Dak Bungalow road. With the road left unrepaired for nearly three years, the drivers burned tyres in anger as they carried out the demonstration.

The protesters alleged that the road, built at a cost of nearly ₹7 crore, had crumbled in several sections within just a few months of construction. Despite repeated demands, the Public Works Department (PWD) allegedly failed to undertake any permanent repair work.

On receiving word of the protest, DCM Moti Debbarma arrived at the site. Police, TSR personnel and fire service workers were deployed to bring the situation under control. The blockade caused traffic congestion on both sides of the road.

The e-auto drivers said their agitation would continue until an official from the Public Works Department arrived and gave a clear assurance regarding the road’s repair.
