AGARTALA: Traders across the capital city set up stalls brimming with rakhis on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan (Rakhi Purnima) on Friday, as the festive spirit took hold of markets throughout Agartala.
Small, medium, and large vendors alike lined streets and marketplaces with colourful displays of rakhis, catering to the annual rush of customers celebrating the bond between brothers and sisters. However, several traders noted that this year’s demand has fallen noticeably short compared to previous years.
Vendors attributed the dip in sales to a combination of factors, though many expressed hope that last-minute buying through the day would help offset the slow start. Despite the subdued demand, the festive atmosphere remained visible across the city, with families turning out to purchase rakhis and sweets ahead of the celebrations.
Raksha Bandhan continues to hold deep cultural significance in the region, with markets across Agartala witnessing the annual tradition of shoppers selecting rakhis for their siblings.
