Agartala:A family in Agartala has accused police of inaction in connection with the alleged abduction of a minor girl, nearly two weeks after the incident was reported. According to the father, his minor daughter was abducted on June 23 while en route to private tuition from their Swadesh Nagar residence under Baikhora police station jurisdiction.
The family filed a written complaint with Baikhora police station on the same day. However, despite numerous days passing without locating the girl, the father has approached media outlets, alleging police have remained inactive in the matter.
According to the father’s account, he has identified the alleged abductor as Samrat Bhadr, son of Tapan Bhadr, a resident of an area adjacent to Baikhora SSB camp. The father claims the information about his daughter’s whereabouts was provided to him through local sources.
The family has alleged that Baikhora police station Officer-in-Charge Bishnu Chandra Das—posted at the station for approximately five years—has taken no substantive action. The father further alleged that the OC’s tenure has witnessed various instances of alleged inaction regarding criminal cases.
The family is demanding immediate intervention from police administration, seeking recovery of the girl and appropriate legal action against the alleged abductor.
Efforts to reach Baikhora police station for official comment remain pending. The case raises questions about police response mechanisms in child abduction matters in the district.
