JATRAPUR: A man was brutally murdered at his own residence in the Kanthalia Bhadrabari area under Jatrapur Police Station, with the assailants allegedly locking the door from outside before fleeing the scene.
The deceased has been identified as Uttam Namah. According to preliminary information, unidentified miscreants attacked him indiscriminately with sharp weapons before escaping, locking the house from outside in an apparent bid to delay discovery of the crime.
The incident came to light around 9 am on Tuesday, when it was reported to Jatrapur Police Station. Police rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the information and launched an investigation.
The victim is survived by two sons — Utpal Namah (25) and Chayan Namah (22). Police said their whereabouts at the time of the incident, along with other related aspects, are being examined as part of the probe.
Investigators are yet to ascertain the motive behind the killing or identify those responsible. The murder has triggered shock and unease in the locality, with police stating that further details will emerge once the investigation concludes.
