From Sacked Teacher to Drug Peddler: Narcotics Recovered in Khowai

KHOWAI: In a case that has raised eyebrows in the locality, narcotics substances were recovered from the house of Pallab Gope, a school teacher who had earlier been dismissed from his job, at West Ganki village in Khowai district.

According to sources, Gope, once employed as a teacher, had been terminated from service, after which he is alleged to have turned to peddling narcotics. Acting on information, police conducted a search at his residence in West Ganki and recovered a quantity of intoxicating substances from the premises.

The recovery has sparked considerable discussion in the area, with residents expressing shock over the transformation of a former educator into an alleged drug peddler. Locals said such activity had reportedly been going on for some time before it came to light.

Police have taken the seized narcotics into custody, and further action, including a case under relevant provisions of law, is understood to be underway.

Investigators are expected to question Gope further to ascertain the source and extent of the narcotics trade allegedly being run from the residence.
