Fire Breaks Out at North Gate Residence, Averted from Turning Major

AGARTALA: A fire broke out at the residence of Debesh Roy in the North Gate area of the capital following a short circuit, causing panic among residents before it was brought under control.

On receiving news of the blaze, Agartala Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot promptly. Initial assessment revealed that the house’s main electric line had burnt, filling the entire building with smoke. However, thanks to the alertness and quick action of the homeowner, a major disaster was averted, and no significant damage was reported.

The fire caused brief alarm in the neighbourhood, with locals gathering at the scene as firefighters worked to bring the situation under control. Officials confirmed that the blaze was contained before it could spread further.

Electricity department personnel subsequently arrived at the site and began repair work on the damaged power connection to restore supply to the house.

Locals said the incident could have led to a much larger accident had it not been detected and addressed in time, underscoring the risks posed by faulty wiring in residential areas.
