AGARTALA: East police station has made a significant breakthrough in the Chittaranjan theft case, recovering around 50 grams of melted gold from the stolen haul as the investigation uncovers fresh leads.

Three people have been detained so far in connection with the theft, with police suspecting more individuals may be involved, East PS Officer-in-Charge Krishnadhan Sarkar said. Of the three, two are currently in judicial custody while one remains in police remand and is being interrogated to trace the remaining stolen items, identify other suspects, and map the wider racket’s movements.

Police described the recovered gold as a crucial lead in the ongoing probe, which continues with the aim of tracing further stolen items and identifying and arresting remaining accused.

East PS said the investigation is still active and detailed information is being withheld at this stage to protect its integrity, adding that further arrests and recoveries are expected in the coming days.
