AGARTALA: East Agartala Police Station personnel apprehended an alleged thief in possession of a gold chain and two bicycles, believed to have been stolen, officials said.
Providing details of the operation to the media, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of East Agartala Police Station, Krishnadhan Sarkar, said the accused was taken into custody following the recovery of the stolen items. The arrest is being seen as part of the police’s ongoing efforts to curb theft-related crimes in the area.
According to police, the recovered gold chain and bicycles are suspected to be linked to earlier theft complaints reported in the locality. Investigations are underway to ascertain whether the accused was involved in similar incidents elsewhere and to identify the rightful owners of the recovered items.
OC Sarkar assured residents that the police remain vigilant and committed to ensuring the safety of citizens’ property, urging the public to report any suspicious activity promptly.
