Blessings for the Beloved: Jamai Shashthi Devotion Fills Lakshmi Narayan Temple

AGARTALA: Devotees thronged the Lakshmi Narayan Temple here today on the occasion of Jamai Shashthi, with mothers in particular offering prayers for the bright future and wellbeing of their sons-in-law and sons.

Many devotees, while performing the rituals, also prayed for the overall welfare and prosperity of the people of the state. The temple witnessed a steady flow of worshippers throughout the day, with women observing the traditional rituals associated with the festival, seeking blessings for the long life and prosperity of their daughters’ husbands.

Speaking on the occasion, the temple priest noted that this year’s Shashthi has fallen in the month of Jaishtha and not during “Mal Maas,” the period considered inauspicious for such observances. He further remarked that despite growing inclination among people towards what he described as unwholesome cultural influences, the occasion of Shashthi remains auspicious by the grace of God, continuing to hold deep religious and social significance for families across the state.

The festival, rooted in tradition, continues to draw large numbers of devotees each year, reflecting its enduring importance in the cultural and religious life of the region.
