Amtali: A youth identified as Sagar Das has been accused of making obscene gestures towards a four-year-old girl and her mother, and allegedly threatening them with physical harm, in the Kanthaltali area under Amtali Police Station.
According to the complaint, the accused targeted the minor and her mother with the inappropriate behaviour, following which the child’s father approached the police with a written complaint against Das.
Amtali Police confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway. Officials said the necessary legal action would be taken against the accused once the probe is complete.
The incident has caused unease among residents of the locality, with several local people demanding exemplary punishment for the accused to deter such incidents in the future.
Police have urged residents to report any further such incidents promptly and assured that the safety of women and children in the area remains a priority.
