AGARTALA: World Nature Conservation Day was observed at Heritage Park here, with Governor Indra Sena Reddy attending the programme as the chief guest, along with senior officials of the Forest Department.
The event was organised to mark the significance of conserving the natural environment and raising awareness about the importance of protecting biodiversity, forests, and wildlife for a sustainable future.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor is understood to have emphasised the need for collective efforts to preserve natural resources and highlighted the role of citizens, government agencies, and institutions in safeguarding the environment for future generations.
Officials of the Forest Department also spoke about various conservation initiatives undertaken by the state government, including afforestation drives, wildlife protection measures, and awareness campaigns aimed at encouraging sustainable practices among the public.
