AGARTALA: The Tribal Students’ Union (TSU) submitted a memorandum to the Director of the Tribal Welfare Department on Wednesday, raising a four-point charter of demands concerning the welfare and educational interests of tribal students.
According to the organisation, the demands focus on issues faced by tribal students in the education sector, related facilities, and matters concerning their future academic prospects.
A five-member delegation, led by TSU Central Committee president Deep Sena Debbarma and general secretary Sujit Tripura, met the Director of the Tribal Welfare Department to present the memorandum. Delegation members explained the four demands in detail and urged the department to take prompt action.
TSU leadership said the organisation has been raising various demands on behalf of students for a long time and expects the concerned authorities to consider the issues seriously and work toward a quick resolution.
Following the submission, TSU leaders said the department’s positive role is crucial in ensuring educational opportunities and government facilities for tribal students, and called for necessary steps to implement their four-point demand at the earliest.
