Kamalpur: What was meant to be a refreshing weekend outing turned into a tragedy when a 19-year-old youth lost his life while bathing at a popular tourist spot. The deceased has been identified as Ananta Singh. The heart-wrenching incident occurred at the picturesque Tuisoi Waterfall, located in the Saikabari area under the Kamalpur sub-division.
According to local sources, Ananta had gone to the scenic waterfall along with a group of friends to escape the heat and spend some leisure time. While bathing in the natural pool at the base of the waterfall, he unexpectedly lost his footing and was dragged into the deep waters by the strong undercurrent.
Hearing his frantic cries for help, his friends and nearby locals rushed to the spot and launched a desperate rescue attempt. He was eventually pulled out of the water in an unconscious state. Ananta was rushed to the nearest hospital, where doctors unfortunately declared him brought dead.
The tragic incident has cast a dark shadow of grief over the entire Kamalpur area. Local authorities have urged tourists and youngsters to exercise extreme caution while entering natural water bodies, especially during periods of heavy current.
