AGARTALA: The Indigenous Peoples’ Front of Tripura (IPFT) organized a roadside rally in Agartala on Sunday, renewing its long-standing demand for a separate Tipraland state.
The programme, held at the Mora Chowmuhani area, was preceded by a procession that started from near North Gate and wound through several roads of the city before converging at the rally venue.
Addressing the gathering, IPFT leaders forcefully reiterated their demand for Tipraland, asserting that fulfilling the demand was essential to safeguarding the interests and rights of Tripura’s indigenous population.
The event was attended by IPFT president Prem Kumar Reang and Tripura government minister Shukla Charan Noatia, along with other senior party leaders, workers and supporters.
The rally, coming amid the party’s continued push on the Tipraland issue, has triggered fresh discussion in political circles in Agartala, with observers watching closely for the government’s response and any impact on the ruling coalition, of which IPFT is a partner.
