AGARTALA: The Tipra Land Statehood Demand Committee on Thursday renewed its demand for separate statehood for the Autonomous District Council (ADC) areas of Tripura, reiterating a long-standing political demand that has remained a contentious issue in the state.
Addressing reporters at the Agartala Press Club, the Committee’s Chairman, Aghor Debbarma, reaffirmed the organisation’s position on the statehood demand, signalling that the issue continues to remain active on the Committee’s agenda.
The renewed assertion comes amid an ongoing debate in Tripura over greater autonomy and political rights for tribal-inhabited ADC areas, a demand that has periodically resurfaced through various platforms and organisations over the years.
