Three Injured, Two Critical in Auto-Bike Collision on NH-8 in Sabroom

SABROOM: Reflecting the growing menace of unregulated e-rickshaws in the town, a head-on collision between a battery-operated auto and a motorcycle left three people injured on National Highway 8 in the Garjantali area. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon at around 2:30 PM.

According to reports, the collision was severe, instantly injuring three individuals identified as Tapan Das (67), Anima Das (51), and Kanulal Dey (63). Upon receiving the alert, fire service personnel rushed to the spot, rescued the victims, and shifted them to the Sabroom Sub-divisional Hospital.

Given the severity of their injuries, the attending doctors provided preliminary treatment but quickly referred Kanulal Dey and Anima Das to the Shantirbazar District Hospital as their conditions were deemed highly critical.

Local residents expressed deep resentment following the accident, alleging that the completely uncontrolled and reckless plying of battery-operated autos has turned Sabroom’s roads into death traps, leading to mishaps almost daily. They have demanded immediate intervention from the transport department and traffic police to regulate these vehicles and enforce strict speed limits on the national highway to avert future tragedies.
