AGARTALA: A wave of anxiety swept through the Govind Ballabh Pant (GB) Hospital premises after a young woman locked herself inside a public washroom, triggering a prompt rescue operation by hospital staff and security personnel.
According to hospital eyewitnesses, the woman entered one of the facility’s washrooms and bolted the door from the inside. When she failed to emerge after a considerable period, nearby patient relatives and visitors grew worried and knocked repeatedly on the door. Failing to elicit any vocal response or sound from within, they immediately raised an alarm and alerted the on-duty hospital administration.
Sensing a medical or psychological emergency, security responders acted quickly and forcefully broke down the bathroom door. Upon gaining entry, they found the young woman inside and safely escorted her out. Fortunately, she suffered no physical injuries during the ordeal.
Initial inquiries by the hospital staff revealed that the woman is mentally unstable, a condition believed to have led to her erratic behavior. Following her safe rescue, she was promptly attended to by on-duty medical professionals to evaluate her physical and mental health status.
