Agartala: The state Biotechnology Council and Biotechnology Directorate jointly organized “Tech Talk Meet the Scholar” at Pragya Bhavan here, aimed at strengthening college biotech clubs and encouraging student interest in modern technology and research.
Teachers and students from colleges across the state attended the event, which highlighted ongoing biotech initiatives in agriculture, health, and environment, along with plans to bring more colleges under biotech projects in the coming days. Discussions covered research areas such as tilapia-based aquaculture, crop quality preservation, saliva-based analysis for dental decay, vermicompost production, and riverbank erosion control through engineering solutions.
Dr. Bidhan Goswami of Matrix College and Dr. Ujjwal Paria Das of Ramthakur College spoke on their research projects, urging students to engage more actively in innovation.
Minister for Science, Technology and Environment Animesh Debbarma inaugurated the event and stressed the need to encourage the state’s future researchers in biotechnology. He also released a compilation of technologies developed by college biotech clubs.
Joint Director of Biotechnology Anjan Sengupta, college faculty, and department officials attended alongside a large student turnout. A quiz competition was also held, with prizes awarded to winners, rounding off an event seen as a step toward deepening youth engagement with research and technology.
