Sense Returns After Summons: Sutapa Sen Apologises to Journalists

AGARTALA: A Facebook account holder identified as Sutapa Sen tendered a written apology to journalists on Sunday after a police case was filed against her over derogatory remarks made against media persons on social media.

Following the complaint, Sutapa Sen was summoned by police and appeared at Kolatilla Police Outpost under East Police Station, accompanied by her husband, Sanjib Sen. During the visit, she reportedly admitted her mistake and submitted a written undertaking pledging not to repeat such conduct in future.

Sutapa Sen also extended a public apology to the journalist community for her remarks, which had drawn sharp criticism online for being vulgar and disparaging towards media professionals.

The incident has reignited concerns over the misuse of social media platforms to target journalists and media houses, with several members of the press welcoming the police action as a deterrent against such online abuse.

Police said the matter has been resolved following the apology and undertaking, though the case record will remain on file.
