The accused lawyer, identified as Shankha Shubhra Dasgupta, allegedly extorted hundreds of thousands of rupees from multiple residents by weaponizing the threat of fabricated legal cases.
According to local sources, Dasgupta—a resident of the heart of the town near the well-known Aponjon Club area—used his legal position to intimidate unsuspecting individuals. He reportedly threatened to entangle his victims in complex, long-running lawsuits unless they paid him massive sums of hush money.
