Rod-Laden Toto Overturns Near Manu Land Customs Amid Bad Road Conditions

Kailashahar: A toto (auto-rickshaw) loaded with iron rods overturned today near the Press Club area adjacent to Manu Land Customs, located on the India-Bangladesh international border in Kailashahar, after the driver lost control of the vehicle due to the dilapidated condition of the road.

According to local residents, the road in question has remained in an extremely poor state for a long time, with no repair or maintenance work undertaken despite repeated complaints. They alleged that the accident was a direct consequence of the neglected infrastructure on this stretch, which holds significant importance given its location in a sensitive border area.

The overturning of the vehicle caused considerable panic among onlookers and passersby at the scene. However, no injuries or casualties were reported in connection with the incident, residents confirmed.

Following the accident, local people have renewed their demand for urgent repair of the road, stressing its strategic importance as a key route connecting the border customs area. They urged the concerned authorities to take immediate action to prevent further accidents, warning that continued negligence could lead to more serious mishaps in the future, especially given the heavy vehicular movement in the region.
