Road Safety: Tripura Records 9% Drop in Accidents in 2025, Says CM

Agartala: Tripura recorded a 9 per cent drop in road accidents in 2025, Chief Minister Manik Saha said, pointing to progress in the state’s road safety efforts.

The Chief Minister shared the figure while speaking on road safety. He indicated that the decline reflects the combined impact of the measures taken by the government and the cooperation of the public.

Road safety has remained a concern across the Northeast, where hilly terrain, narrow roads and rising vehicle numbers have contributed to accidents. Authorities in Tripura have in recent years carried out awareness drives and stepped up enforcement against traffic violations such as speeding, drunken driving and driving without helmets.

A fall in accident numbers is seen as an encouraging sign, though officials have generally stressed that sustained effort is needed to bring casualties down further.
