AGARTALA: Tripura Police on Thursday flagged off a motorcycle rally from Agartala carrying the twin messages of national unity and a drug-free India. The rally is part of the National Motorcycle Rally 2026, organised ahead of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.
Director General of Police (in-charge) G.S. Rao flagged off the riders from the A.D. Nagar Police Ground at 8:45 am, in the presence of senior police officials. The contingent will cover nearly 3,000 km to reach Ekta Nagar in Kevadia, Gujarat, home of the Statue of Unity.
Rao described the rally as more than a ride, calling it a mission to spread unity, integrity and national resolve. He said this year’s theme, “Fight Against Drugs”, is particularly relevant for Tripura, and that the riders would take the anti-drug message directly to communities and young people along the route.
Contingents from states and Union Territories, Central Armed Police Forces and central police organisations are taking part. Tripura is participating as part of the North East Zone.
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is observed every year on October 31, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
