Agartala: The Pradesh Congress on Monday came out strongly against the expulsion of Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman from the Tripura Assembly, calling the action unjust and politically motivated. Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan, Pradesh Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha alleged that Roy Barman was expelled for raising legitimate questions in the House.
Saha said Roy Barman had sought an impartial investigation into the unnatural death of former DGP Anurag Dhankar, questioning why the alleged suicide note was kept concealed and whether there was negligence in the probe. He alleged that the possibility of pressure or provocation behind the DGP’s death also warranted investigation, and claimed Roy Barman was expelled for the day immediately after raising these points.
Questioning the Chief Minister’s role in the matter, Saha demanded the resignation of Dr. Manik Saha. Expressing solidarity with the suspended MLA, he warned that the Congress would intensify its agitation in the coming days, demanding a proper and transparent investigation into the DGP’s death.
