Police Seize 110 Packets of Firecrackers in Khowai Raid

KHOWAI: Police carried out a raid on a shop near Khowai Fire Service on Tuesday, seizing around 110 packets of banned firecrackers, as part of an ongoing crackdown on noise pollution and illegal sound-emitting fireworks.

The raid was conducted at the shop of Bijoy Das, where a large quantity of firecrackers was recovered and confiscated. Police said the operation is part of a phased drive being carried out across various shops in Khowai town to check the sale and stockpiling of illegal firecrackers.

According to police, such inspections have been continuing for some time and will remain in force in the coming days, as authorities step up efforts to curb noise pollution and enforce restrictions on banned firecrackers.

Officials reiterated that action will be taken against any shop found selling or storing prohibited firecrackers in violation of existing rules, and urged traders to comply with regulations to avoid legal consequences.
