Minister Sudhangshu Das Urges Veterinary Doctors to Tackle State’s Fish Deficit

AGARTALA: The Tripura Veterinary Doctors’ Association (TVDA) hosted its 56th Annual General Body Meeting at a premier private hotel in Agartala. The event brought together top state officials and veterinary professionals to deliberate on the development of the animal resources sector.  

The conference was officially inaugurated by the Minister for Animal Resources Development, Fisheries, and Scheduled Caste Welfare, Sudhangshu Das, who performed the traditional ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Other high-profile attendees included Departmental Secretary Deepa D. Nair and the Joint Director of the Animal Resource Development Department, Bimal Krishna Das.  

Addressing the media, Minister Das noted that the commencement of the association’s general meeting coincided with the broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 134th ‘Mann Ki Baat’ episode. He highly praised the TVDA for its unwavering dedication, stating that the organization continuously aligns its efforts with the state government’s welfare goals and offers essential cooperation.

Highlighting a critical area for immediate focus, the Minister pointed out that the local supply of fish remains significantly lower than consumer demand. He urged the association and veterinary professionals to proactively design strategies and work towards boosting internal production to bridge this deficit.
